THE FELINE-CANINE CKD WELLNESS CENTER
Dedicated to helping feline and canine pet-parents, D. Creed and Dr. Catherine Divingian founded The Feline-Canine CKD Wellness Center ("www.felinecanineckd.com"), a comprehensive resource site devoted to the management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in cats and dogs. Not only that, but this site serves as a one-stop guide for pet foods, pet supplements, pet medications, pet drinking fountains, miscellaneous pet supplies, additional information, and community support for those seeking the best care for their companion animals.
D. CREED
Creed's career background has primarily been within military medicine and health science. He has also been a fitness coach since 2000 and, beginning in 2007, went on to become a multi-certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning specialist. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Science (as well as a Master of Science in a field pertinent to his military career) and has devoted thousands of hours and three decades of his life to investigating exercise and nutrition and their applications to performance, health, and longevity.
Over the years, Creed often had clients (and pets) whose physical limitations drove him to investigate natural and integrative strategies to overcome such hurdles. His coaching, while initially focused on diet and exercise, repeatedly led to surprising health outcomes beyond his clients’ expectations, including significant improvements-and at times, even complete reversals—in conditions such as osteoporosis, hypertension, insulin resistance, chronic fatigue syndrome, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease, chondromalacia patellae, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and stage-3 chronic kidney disease (CKD), often accompanied with supportive documentary evidence.
Creed’s success with natural healing is directly correlated with his commitment to unconventional medical investigation. As an example, in 2011, he conducted real-time before/after microscopic analyses of his blood to ascertain the reasons behind his chronic fatigue, a decision that compelled dietary changes that radically improved his red blood cells and subsequently his recovery, cognitive performance, and energy levels. The following year, he disclosed his before/after blood video analyses to the Human Performance Laboratory of the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Group 2 Training Detachment (TRADET) where he revealed definitive proof of the adverse agglutinating effects of dietary gluten on red blood cells. In another example with the same military unit, he contacted the head physical rehabilitation specialist and shared his investigation of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which at the time was a relatively unknown method to address tendon degeneration, a technique that was quickly adopted as a significant treatment modality for injured members of NSW Development Group (DEVGRU).
Like Dr. Divingian, Creed has always had a soft spot for animals and does what he can to volunteer in animal rescue and support wildlife and habitat conservation. Today, he continues to devote his time to ongoing research in health, fitness, and integrative medicine while providing training and consultations to his clients.
Creed served on active duty as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Hospital Corpsman (combat medic) for over 12 years from 1999 through 2012. An ardent patriot, he currently serves as a military reservist and maintains his certification and license as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
CATHERINE DIVINGIAN, MD, PHD
Throughout her career, Dr. Catherine Divingian's main areas of focus have been in academia, the military, and medicine. Her credentials include an MD (with a focus in Internal Medicine), a Ph.D. in Health Psychology, and an MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, among others. She also holds various certifications as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning specialist, and sports nutritionist.
Her investigations spanned the health science spectrum and included innovative research on the development of medical-laser and cardiac-stress detection devices; the pharmaceutical testing of acarbose for diabetes management and paclitaxel for ovarian cancer; and studies on post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) and delayed wound healing, the mechanism of stroke, liver-binding kinetics, the effects of aspartame on the brain, and cardiac and pulmonary metabolites. Her research has been supported by the American Heart Association (AHA), National Science Foundation (NSF), the Department of Energy (DOE), the University of South Florida (USF) Health Morsani College of Medicine MD SELECT (Scholarly Excellence, Leadership Experiences, Collaborative Training) Program, and the Florida Georgia Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (FGLSAMP).
She served as Chair of the Virginia Hampton Roads American Chemical Society (ACS) and was a Wiley Faculty Network (WFN) Mentor. Dr. Divingian was also on the editorial boards of Scientific Journals International (SJI), McGraw-Hill, Brooks/Cole Publishing Company, and the Health Psychology journal. She wrote for Fitness & Physique, U.S. Navy Medicine, ER Resident Magazine, Annals of Neurosciences, and Real Women, Real Talk, among other publications.
In 2008, after losing her cat to complications associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), Dr. Divingian joined forces with Creed and set out to find solutions to this widespread condition. Much like her research partner, she is a devoted animal-rescue volunteer and passionate supporter of no-kill shelters and habitat-conservation programs.
Formerly a Medical Service Corps officer in the United States Navy, Dr. Divingian returned to military duty in January 2020. She now serves as a reserve medical physician in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.
